Error 2753 with DesktopVideo 9.8 install

PostTue Dec 03, 2013 1:28 pm

Hi folks,
I got my Decklink SDI card in last night, installed it in a PCIexpress 2.0 slot and tried to install the software and failed. The driver installed fine, and I can see the card as a device in Media Express, but when I try to install the DesktopVideo 9.8 software (or the 9.7.7 that was on the CD) I get an error 2753 and the installation fails. I also can't see any preview in Media Express and if I try to blind record anyway, it gives me only black video on playing back the AVI file in WMP so it isn't seeing my ATEM feed to the card.

This is an HP Z400 with a Blackmagic ATEM 1 M/E also connected, whose software installed perfectly fine. I can't get my USB 3.0 card to work with it, but that's unrelated (see thread "Getting USB3.0 to work with ATEM 1 M/E" if interested or can help).

I ran across a couple of "fixes" online, most of which involved downloading software so I passed. I did, however, try this site's suggestion (http://www.ehow.com/how_5047270_fix-internal-error.html), which apparently re-starts/repairs the DllRegisterServer dll file, but no joy.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jeff

Okay, this part was a goof on my part...I didn't have the preferences set to the same resolution as the ATEM. I got it set right tonight and could preview and record fine with Media Express. Still can't install the Desktop Video software, though. Btw, 185GB for an hour of 10bit YUV at NTSC resolution??? Wow!

Hi bmota,
To be honest, I plumb forgot about it after our December program we recorded, so thanks for reminding me :)
(I've also now got my notifications turned on for emailing me when someone replies, as I didn't realize anyone replied to this.)

I will check Wednesday night when I'm at church again and see if it works and if not, start pursuing it again. We've been able to record fine with the Media Express program, and I can record from either the Decklink SDI card or the USB 3.0 connection (now that I actually have a *USB 3.0* cable...heheh), and both work identically.

More on Wednesday, I hope!

Btw, is it just the Desktop video program installation you're having issue with?

Thanks,
Jeff

Hey bmota,
I upgraded all my software this week for my ATEM 1 M/E, SDI converters (to and from analog and HDMI) and my Decklink SDI and learned an important fact...if you have the ATEM switcher you don't need to (and shouldn't) install the separate Desktop Video software as it will actually break the Desktop Video programs that are included in the ATEM 1 M/E software. After I installed ATEM 5.1 and Desktop Video 10.1 (which all installed fine, with no error llike the 9.8 Desktop Video install), none of my video recording programs would recognize the ATEM (no USB 3.0 feed or WMD Capture driver), although the Decklink SDI card still appeared.

I uninstalled all my software and then installed them one at a time to see where the ATEM feed "broke" and that's when I realized that the ATEM software already included the Desktop Video software like Media Express, Speed Test, etc, etc. I had erroneously assumed that I needed to install the separate Desktop Video software because I saw a Desktop Video folder in my Blackmagic Designs Start menu program folder (and we all know what happens when we assume...again...).

So, apparently the separate Desktop Video software is only needed if you don't have another Blackmagic device that contains those programs. With only the ATEM and Converter softwares installed, all of my devices are now working fine again and no errors.

Hope this helps,
Jeff

Dear Jlklein,
i have the same z400 machine, and facing almost same problems for inability to install all the software needed, i will try to discard the "desktop video" and see how it would run.

but additionally, i am not able to install the "hyperdeck" utility program, it give me the same error msg.
i'm planning to record in parallel through hyperdeck recorder plus the PC for the backup sake.

i hope you didn't switch your email notification off :)

Hi Ramy,
I would uninstall everything first and then install the software for whatever major interface you're using (ATEM, Hyperdeck, etc). If you have the ATEM, that may be all you need, other than the utilities for the Hyperdeck. I haven't got one of those yet, but am looking into it, so will be interested in your results. I do use the BMD mini-converters, which have a utility install program, and did not have any issues with those.

Bottom line for me was that all I needed to do was install the ATEM software and the MiniConverter utilities (which was actually optional, as mostly the dip switches did what I needed).

Now I'm having fun trying to learn to record/edit with the free Davinci Resolve Lite...emphasis on "trying", lol.

Have fun!

Jeff,
Frankly, the hyperdeck software isn't important during the operation by any means, it is only to to determine the record required format (which you can make it from the front panel) plus the firmware update for sure. my goal was to install all the software of all the devices onto the same PC to be able to update/operate each of them whenever required.
i will post here if i got any updates.

If i would ask, why are you 'trying' to record via Resolve? wouldn't it be much easier to use BM express or adobe premiere for this task?

That's what I figured, same as with the Mini-converters I have.

I do actually record in Media Express currently, and had tried editing those files in DaVinci, but after calling Tech Support I was informed that DaVinci is not compatible with the avi wrappers that the Windows version of ME uses. So, I would only be able to use ME to record in DNxHD, being the only file format that was commonly compatible between ME and DR Lite. However, if I used Davinci to record, there are more available formats to record in and natively edit with.

The other issue I'm dealing with in the "trying to" category is hard disk speed. I don't really have the funds to get a RAID Array as Tech Support suggested, so am looking at either internal SSD's or the Hyperdeck solution.

Oh, I'm also using a PC. That's why I'm having issues between ME and DR Lite. If I was using the Mac versions, DR Lite would be able to read and edit all of the various AVI flavors that ME can capture. The Windows version of ME uses a different AVI "wrapper" which DR Lite can't read :(

With this latest Christmas musical, we captured in ME using the MotionJPEG setting at NTSC (due to limited hard disk capture speed) and editing in Pinnacle Studio Ultimate 18. Making the movie and chapters was fine, but the video lady had a devil of a time getting a DVD to burn properly. Pinnacle said it was MotionJPEG compatible, but I'm not yet convinced and still want to get DR Lite figured out.

What format are you capturing in using Premiere?

Thanks,
Jeff
