UI config: viewing timeline preview

PostSun May 15, 2022 6:20 am

Hi.

I've just installed a freshly downloaded Resolve 17 on Windows 11.
I've started hitting up tutorials on YouTube and elsewhere.

In online tutorials the UI layout for the edit page has two elements to the right of the media pool:
A monitor for media items and a monitor for the contents of the timeline.

This doesn't appear to be the default layout, but it is the layout that most tutorials use. So I feel like I can't get started without thus reconfiguring my layout.

By default on the edit page I have a monitor for things in the media pool, and no monitor for the timeline.

How do I add in the second monitor?

Thanks.

There's an icon in the top right corner of the viewer, however if the UI resolution is too low then one can't have both windows and the inspector open simultaneously.

Good Luck

A lot depends on the size of your screen, but pic 1 shows what you would typically see. If you only see one centered viewer, click on the icon arrowed. This switches between single and dual viewers. You will find that with the Media Pool and Inspector windows open that you only get one viewer window. To switch between source and timeline views use the Q key on your keyboard.
