Hi there,

Could you please help me choosing the right blackmagic product for my needs and compatible with my current computer ?

First, I have many VCR tapes I would like to capture. I see my VCR have a S-video out and a peritel/scart out.

I would like to record the tapes with the best quality possible. I know it’s impossible to do wonders with old SD tapes, but I almost want to do the job just once.

In a second time, I could maybe need to record HD materials in 1080p.

I think the “intensity shuttle usb 3” will not work with my motherboards usb 3 ports. I have no thunderbolt port. Should I go with the “intensity pro” or should I aim for a decklink (studio ?) for a better quality and more possibilities ?

My computer is a Core i7 3770k, motherboard gigabyte Z77X-UD5H-WB WIFI, Ram 2x8 gb Trident x 2400mhz, Asus GTX 670 dcu II, soundcard pci RME 96/32, ssd crucial M4 256 gb.

I thank you in advance for your answers.

You have a good enough computer, go with the pro, although that one does not have an S-video port. What you could potentially do is buy an USB3 card with the Renesas USB3 controller, such as the AsusU3S6 (works on my end) to get the shuttle USB 3.0 to work.
