Newbie question: Intensity Shuttle and Livestream.com

I am a front-end web developer and complete A/V neophyte who has been livestreaming events for my campus community using the Livestream.com service. In the past I've used the Livestream Procaster with an older Canon camera connected directly to my MacBook Pro through Firewire and an audio source connected directly to my laptop with either an RCA-to-1/8-stereo or XLR-to-1/8-stereo cable. With Firewire on the way out on most newer prosumer cameras I am trying to upgrade to HDMI.

Enter the Intensity Shuttle. I have installed the software that came with the device, plugged my Canon into the HDMI in, plugged the Shuttle into the laptop with a Thunderbolt cable, fired up the Procaster tool, prayed to the old gods and the new, and hoped for the best. No luck. The Livestream.com documentation says that Procaster "should automatically recognize the BlackMagic capture card devices as your input source" with that little green "certified" check mark next to it, but I can't find any info about how Procaster is supposed to recognize the Intensity Shuttle Thunderbolt device. I think I am doing something basic and stupid and wrong. Can anyone help?

You still have to configure the video setting in the Blackmagic Preferences (e.g which input is used on the Shuttle and what input video format you are using).

Try getting it working using Media Express first before moving on to the Livestream software

Also.. what Canon camera are you using?
What video format do you think it is outputting on the HDMI (note: many consumer grade cameras/camcorders output a fixed 1080i video on their HDMI out - irrespective of what recording mode you may be using on the camera).
