Why does my Video Assist display the video overexposed?

PostFri May 27, 2022 9:57 pm

Still a camateur here so forgive my ignorance. I have an HDMI cable connecting my BMPCC4K to a VA 12G.

The video being fed to the VA is always displayed as more exposed than the video I'm viewing on the BMPCC4K.

I was under the impression that the monitor simply enlarges your video feedback- duplicating the video being sent from camera but that's not what I'm seeing at all; the video is enlarged to fit the screen of course but it's always over exposed compared to the camera's video.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I'm using film dynamic range and no LUTS on the camera or the monitor.

Any ideas?

Thanks a lot :)

Is the pocket brightness lower? Check on board settings for the pocket assist. I don't have one but your answer probably lies there.
Inside the box? I didn't know about any box...

Do you mean overexposed as in it is clipping sooner than the Pocket screen? If not, the newer Video Assists have much brighter screens that the Pocket 4K can't compare to.
