Intensity Shuttle Capture Format

Hello,

I have an Intensity Thunderbolt Shuttle and a Canon XA20 connected via hdmi to a 2012 iMac running on Mavericks OS with Black Magic Driver 9.9.3 and I am able to capture but only in uncompressed format.

There is no compressed format option in the drop-down menu, only Quicktime Uncompressed 8-Bit and 10-Bit YUV and DPX 10-Bit RGB. I would like to know what I can do to make the captured files smaller with having to compress them afterwards.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I believe that there should be an option for "motion JPG", which is the most compressed you can record.

I could be wrong, but I thought on the Mac you had to have something like FCP installed to get other capture options

Thank you, but there is no motion jpeg option available.
I have Final Cut Pro 10 installed, but am unable to capture with it, the camera doesn't appear when connected through the thunderbolt shuttle.

Motion JPEG is only on Windows.

If you want a compressed format you'll need to have a version of FCP installed. Then the codecs will be exposed to you in Media Express. If you happen to have a machine with FCP (even if not that machine) you can copy the codec files over.
