Quick question! HDMI viewing.

PostTue Dec 10, 2013 4:30 pm

I've got one workstation that runs FCP 6.0.6 and After effects CC; been using Matrox MX02 but it's one or the other since CC came out. (There's no upgrade path I know of for FCP 7 these days and I need to be non-X for a while). OS is 10.7.5. This machine needs to stay a little old-school for a few months.

Is there an HDMI output solution that supports FCP6 and Adobe AE Cloud? (And hopefully resolve)? I'd be happy with just mini monitor or intensity pro card.

Can any BM HDMI products run concurrently with the Matrox (I can use an HDMI switcher if that's the only way to keep monitoring for FCP and AE)?

BTW, how does audio connect out for the decklink mini?

Thanks for any advice, need to buy ASAP!

You should be no problem with the drivers conflicting. And one device should be able to output on either. However, in order to get a decklink mini working you'd have to run a driver that supports it and that will work with FCP 6 (which we stopped testing a while ago). I'm not sure if there is going to be much overlap there. Also a fairly new driver will be required for running Adobe CC. So on one side you need an older driver, and on the other you need a newer driver. So that's problematic.

The audio out of the decklink mini monitor is embedded, either SDI or HDMI

Thanks Joshua -

So it seems possible I could keep the Matrox installed for FCP 6, and install a BM product for Resolve and AECloud... and possibly the BM card might work for FCP 6? (I'm never that lucky!!)

That could get me through a couple more months - I'll either get FCPX or move to Premiere in the late winter.
