Please help

PostSun Dec 15, 2013 12:58 am

I just bought a BMI Pro off Amazon to stream/record my gameplay from my Xbox 360/Xbox One. I opened up my PC and put the card in and installed the Desktop Video program.

The first time I installed the program, it detected the card under "Device" in the menu bar. However, I uninstalled and reinstalled because I was unable to get it to work properly and thought it might be the program.

Now the program does not detect the card at all and the card does not appear under the "Sound, Video and Game Controllers" option in my Device Manager.

Can someone please help me set this up so I can actually use this. Any help is welcomed as I am completely new to this kind of thing.

32 or 64 bit Windows?
Which slot do you have the card in?

Do you get an 'unknown' device in device manager?
You may have to use a much earlier driver then the latest one as the later drivers are for 64bit Windows only

Well I just got home from work and I reseated the card and it is working now. Not sure how it became unseated.

Now I just need the correct settings for capturing from an Xbox 360. Would you be able to assist me with that?

Make sure that you know what your Xbox outputs. Not familiar with the Xbox, but I guess you can say to it to output a max of 720p. Connect it via... HDMI or component, whatever you have lying around.

Go to your windows control panel, into the Blackmagic settings, and set it to the input what you're using (probs HDMI video & HDMI audio).
Afterwards, open up your Media Express and you need to precisely set the output of your console in the settings (CTRL + ,). Either 720p 50Hz or 720p 59.94Hz. If not, play a bit around with the video in/output settings.
I'll be hearing from you

Ok. I have been able to get the video to show in the BMI Pro and on my TV. However, there is a black line an inch or two thick on the right hand side of my TV. Is there a way to get rid of this? Also, is there a way to make it so the video does not go black when I change windows from my Media Express?

As long as you see an image in the Media Express software, you should be alright.
For the switching windows, in the settings, tick "continue playback when in the background".

As for the black line, I'm unfamiliar with that. Can you make a photo and post an URL to it here? Does it also show in the preview window by the way? And does it overlay the video or is it part of the border?
