Mini Converter HDMI to SDI

PostSun Dec 15, 2013 9:06 pm

Hi,

I would like to convert a 3D video signal from HDMI to SDI. Which 3D format can I send in HDMI?

Frame packing 3D, frame compatible 3D, or frame sequential 3D?

Will the mini converter understand the format and output correctly the right frame on one SDI out, and the left frame on the other SDI out?

See 3d-format-guide on best-3dtvs.com

Ok it seems the Mini Converter HDMI to SDI outputs the same thing on both SDI ports.
Should I use another hardware ? What do you advice ?

Do you think I could use the two thunderbolt ports of a macbook pro with two UltraStudio Mini Monitor to get the SDI left/right 3D signal ?

Using 2 mini monitors probably won't work, as they won't be genlocked to each other. Without the 2 being exactly in sync 3d won't work. That's why they made the Ultrastudio 3d, and Ultrastudio 4k. But you have to use playout software to use the outputs on Blackmagic cards, they will not replicate your desktop as a second monitor.

Ok, thank you !

What do you mean by "playout software" ?
Will I be able to feed a video stream from a home made c++ app ?
How will I send my video signal ? Is there an API ? Where is the doc ?
