Need advice: product to view hdmi directly on my notebook

PostWed Dec 18, 2013 5:29 pm

I have a notebook which only has hdmi out. I have a Xbox One and would like to view it live on the screen of my notebook. I think some of the products like Intensity Shuttle could live convert the hdmi signal to usb 3.0, but I'm not sure.
Can anybody confirm or recommend me another product?

I think you meant to say HDMI out, but whatever.
Do you want to use your laptop as a screen to play on or as a thing to stream/record videos?
Because it will work with the last part. If you want to game from your laptop screen, you might have problems. First and foremost, the transcoding of the signal will give you a slight lag, meaning that if you play fast-paced games such as any shooter, you will probably see a huge drop in your performance. Although USB 3.0 should have enough bandwidth, and I don't see any lag tbh, not recommended. The lag story goes with ALL capture cards.
The second reason is that the shuttle isn't made for playback. The playback screen is about ¼ of your screen, unless you have a 70" laptop, I won't recommend this.

Most laptops have HDMI out but few have an input alone.

HKboy hit the nail on the head with his response. Our products are meant for capturing video rather than streaming. I am aware that some people use our products for that purpose but that is not something we test.
