I had a similar problem with the Panasonic 14mm 2.5 (the "standard lens" for the BMPCC): although attached correctly, the camera did not recognize it. At first I thought, the lens could be defective. I pushed the mount release button, moved the lens back and forth several times and into the final position again. Finally, it worked (iris control and autofocus). The lens has not caused any more trouble in the last few days, fortunately.
However, there do also exist issues with some specific lenses (e.g. 12-35mm 2.8 Panasonic, 14-140mm Panasonic...) due to firmware incompatibility. Some lenses must be upgraded via a MFT body to the newest firmware version in order to get iris and autofocus working on the BMPCC. So far, I have not heard about the 45mm 1.8 Olympus being concerned in any way (and do not know, whether firmware on this lens can be upgraded at all) - but this might be a starting point if you face further trouble and can verify, that the lens itself and your BMPCC body are ok.
