BMPCC olympus 45mm help

PostThu Dec 19, 2013 11:31 am

hello! story cut short- i'm young, a bit stupid and in possession of bmpcc.
i also have an olympus pen m.zuiko 45mm f1.8 lens, and for the life of me cannot figure out why the auto-focus/iris buttons won't work for me.
does anyone have any help/recommendations?
thanks! rob

focus never tracks on the BMPCC. It simply doesn't have a continuous AF.
But the Focus and IRIS buttons should work nonetheless.

I have been having the same issue with an Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 17mm f/1.8 . No way to get focus and iris to work and can't manually focus either. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Hello again, i seem to have found a solution, at least a temporary one: if i tilt the camera forward, wait to hear a click and then wait for the f stop number to appear in the menu bar, the focus and iris button the. Are activated. Any insight as to why this may be happening as well as other possible solutions, would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

I had a similar problem with the Panasonic 14mm 2.5 (the "standard lens" for the BMPCC): although attached correctly, the camera did not recognize it. At first I thought, the lens could be defective. I pushed the mount release button, moved the lens back and forth several times and into the final position again. Finally, it worked (iris control and autofocus). The lens has not caused any more trouble in the last few days, fortunately.

However, there do also exist issues with some specific lenses (e.g. 12-35mm 2.8 Panasonic, 14-140mm Panasonic...) due to firmware incompatibility. Some lenses must be upgraded via a MFT body to the newest firmware version in order to get iris and autofocus working on the BMPCC. So far, I have not heard about the 45mm 1.8 Olympus being concerned in any way (and do not know, whether firmware on this lens can be upgraded at all) - but this might be a starting point if you face further trouble and can verify, that the lens itself and your BMPCC body are ok.

Thank you very much for the reply. I have tried doing as suggested and it seems to work a bit better though in certain positions it still doesn t recognize the lens (and focus, iris and autofocus) don t work.
I have spoken to several people who have had this issue - possibly a problem with the mount - and hopefully it will be resolved soon.
thanks again.
