Sony HD-PJ430 and UltraStudio Mini Recorder

I just bought this Sony HD-PJ430 camcorder and hooked it up to the UltraStudio Mini Recorder and then my MacBook Air (latest model).

I've installed the latest blackmagic software. I can't get any software including blackmagic express to show anything other than black screen.

Any ideas?

What is the output format from the camera? You may need to check this by plugging the camera into a TV and checking what signal the TV is seeing.
Do you have the BM control panel set to match the camera and in media express do you have the input set to match the camera?
