Compatible Lens for the BMPCC 6k and Zoom Demand

PostTue Sep 20, 2022 8:06 pm

Does anyone know which lenses work with the BMPCC 6k models and the Zoom Demand? I'd like to be able to use the Zoom Demand with the BMPCC 6k models and the only ones they have published are lenses that have an MFT mount which doesn't fit the 6k cameras, as the 6k cameras have an EF mount.

What do you mean by Zoom demand? If you meant it to be an in camera control to control the zoom (focal length) of the lens, there is no such thing on any of the Blackmagic cameras, even the BMPCC 4K. They only have a focus control for supported lenses. If you need to control the zoom electronically, you might want to look at something like the Tilta Nano or similar products. That should work with any lenses. Other option is a LiDAR device. There are vendors that sell them but it is not from BlackMagic.

Otherwise, I have no idea what is mean by Zoom demand.

The Blackmagic Zoom and Focus Demands are external zoom and focus controllers that were originally introduced as optional accessories for the Blackmagic Studio Cameras. They are pictured in the Accessories section on this page: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/produc ... udiocamera

Support for the Zoom and Focus Demands was added to the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K with camera firmware update 7.9: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/suppor ... 29b129178a

In order for these controllers to be able to control the lens through the camera, the lens itself must have built in zoom or focus motors that can be controlled through the lens mount. Canon makes a handful of EF mount lenses with zoom motors with a Compact-Servo and Cine-Servo designation, see this earlier thread for a list: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=162678
