Patona EN-EL20 battery for BMPCC ?

PostTue Dec 24, 2013 12:21 pm

Since the original Blackmagic EN-EL20 type batteries for the BMPCC are hard to get at present time in Germany, I am looking for alternatives.

I have found a brand named Patona, which seems to be active in Europe. They are widely available in Germany and the price is super cool, especially considering the charger bundles.

While they do have a lot of positive reviews from Nikon camera users, there does not exist any information on BMPCC usage, as this camera is relatively new and rather exotic, of course.

Does anybody know / use this battery brand ?

Practically all of the 3rd party EL20 packs come from some factory in Guangzhou or Shenzhen - I can't count how many times these things get re-branded. Anyhow, they work fine for me, and last a bit longer than the BM ones. Luckily I'm in China so I picked up a bunch - a set of 2 packs and a charger are like $12 USD.

Cheers

Thank you. Yes, looks all the same. In Germany, I have found 6 different brands, carrying exactly the same 3rd party battery and charger model (as on your picture above), ranging from $35 (2 batteries + charger) to $100+ per kit, very interesting...they all seem to be made in the same factory, as you wrote above.

Correction, the retail price I paid here is about 22$ for one pack and one charger.

Cheers
