HyperDeck Shuttle & Corsair Neutron SSD

PostThu Dec 26, 2013 1:21 am

I just recently purchased a HyperDeck Shuttle and have a 256GB Corsair Neutron SSD I would like to use in it. I'm on a Windows machine so at first I tried to use the exFAT option but my Shuttle's SSD light stays red. After many failed attempts with exFAT I downloaded MacDrive and formatted the SSD to HFS+ and the Shuttle seems to recognize the drive (SSD light turns off and the green light behind the "Stop" button lights) but I still cannot get it to record anything... My camera is the Canon XF100 and when I plug it in with the HDMI cable the "Video" light turns green and I can see the thru output on another monitor but when I hit "record" the light flashes red and goes out while the green "stop" light goes out and comes right back on... I've tried updating the firmware of the Shuttle and I think I've got it to the most recent but it still doesn't work... Am I doing something wrong or are my three components just not playing nicely with each other? It's really confusing...
Thanks for helping!

Are you recording in compressed or un-compressed format?

I don't see the 256GB Corsair Neutron SSD on the list of approved SSD's. It may not be fast enough (at least for un-compressed).

Also make sure your HDMI cable is 1.4 rated.

Hope this helps out

Here are some other ideas to consider. I'm using the Sony FS100 so these suggestions may not pertain to the Canon XF100 but may be relevant only to the FS100.

1) Make sure your HDMI output is set to a format that is supported by the HyperDeck Shuttle (1080P50, 1080P59.94, and 1080P60 are not supported).

2) If your Canon XF100 has the option to 'turn on/turn off' timecode to HDMI output, then make sure that it is turned on.

3) Press record to start the timecode running (or set your camera to free run timecode) before you press the record button on the HyperDeck Shuttle. My HyperDeck Shuttle will not record from my FS100 without timecode running.
