Using Hyperdeck Shuttle for Playback

PostThu Dec 26, 2013 2:38 am

I am new to BM products. I am using a BMCC to record on a Sandisk 240GB Extreme II. Seems to be recording OK (ProRes @ 24 fps). I have the Hyper Deck Shuttle 2 that I want to playback on a field monitor independent of the BMCC. Connection between the Shuttle and monitor is with a HDMI cable. Problem(s): the Shuttle does not seem to recognize the SSD (SSD light does not come on) and the stop button stays lit, even after pressing for playback. Looking for ideas/wisdom on the problem.

Can you play back the clip on the BMCC before you moved the SSD to the Shuttle, just to see if the clip was not corrupted?

Playback on the BMCC works fine for all clips - no problem with the record function to the SSD.

Have you made sure to check the firmware of the Shuttle, and see if it's up to date?

I guess the next question is, what file system is the disk?

Per the manual, the disks need to be HFS+ or ExFAT.

The original Shuttle only support Uncompressed video, apparently the newer ones support DNxHD and ProRES.

I formatted the SSD card prior to using in the BMCC; and it's the Shuttle 2 (newer one). Just to make sure, I did connect the Shuttle to my computer to check firmware - it is current and allows ProRes & 16-bit uncompressed. I have it set to uncompressed right now.
