Canon T6i not connecting to ultrastudio recorder

I have the ultrastudio recorder 3g and it is recognized on my M1 Mac.
I have a Canon Rebel T6i connected via HDMI to the ultrastudio recorder.
In media express I only see black - no video is coming through and it is not detected in quicktime movie recorder either. My canon camera has the HDMI setting enabled. What else am I missing to allow ultrastudio to recognize my camera feed?

I have no T6i but this is what I found while searching for your problem:
