Teranex 2D Ethernet Remote

PostMon Oct 15, 2012 4:08 pm

I can't find on the Teranex 2D the place to change the unit's IP address in order to control via the Ethernet connection. Nothing in the manual describing this either. Can someone help with this?

Baz is correct. It is not yet implemented.

Considering it took over 2 months to get the unit and the most basic of features is not implemented yet is not good. That and no SD@23.98. arg...

MAN....... !!!!! Did you see the price?!?

Have you ever noticed Blackmagic almost always 'futureproof their products by adding many 'hardware' items well before implementation.
That way you won't have to buy the next version of the product when they introduce new features.

Which way do you want it? Spend $2000 every 6 months when new features come out or..... download new firmware for free. I know which way I want it.

Of course this is not so surprising considering the VC100 (or any of the legacy line) didn't support that format either.

Aside from ethernet remote control, or the promised RCP, has anyone besides me looked at other options for remoting the 2D?
Our facility uses centralized terminal and tape rooms. Not having some sort of remote functionality from the start makes this a very poorly designed and marketed device.

It's been years since I've done hard core programming but ...

There appears to be an RS422 port on the back of the T2D, but there's nothing in the manual about being able to control it through this port. I can only assume that it hasn't been enabled yet.

I know this thread is over one year old, but does anyone know about the current status of this?

On their current Teranex 2D product page [1], the feature is advertised as already included (which I would read as "existing"):
Thunderbolt port for computer capture and playback, RS-422 deck control, reference input, and ethernet are included for remote configuration.

In the most recent Teranex manual (June 2013) [2], there seems to be no information about how to configure anything ethernet-based, though :(

Again, false advertising from BMD. There is no ethernet remote on our T2D.
