BMD Video Hub How to Save/Restore In/Out Assignments?

We have a use case where we need to change several output assignments to different inputs during a live performance, and use the UI to change routes is error prone and complex. How can we keep a predefined set of outs-to-ins, that flip to another set of outs-to-ins?
The save/load layout would seem to be logically the way to do it, but looking at the result XML, it is nothing but button assignments... no routers? I mean, really? Why not save the routes as well in the same layout file?
Are the routes visible via the BMD SDK/API?
