Newb here with Studio...File Formats

PostSat Jun 14, 2025 7:38 pm

Greetings all:

My name is actually Scott and I have had Davinci since version 18 when I purchased the speed editor. Recently I had new Ram and a new OS installed on my pc (Win 11) and now I installed V20. I seem to remember Davinci 18 & 19 being able to recognize different file formats like .AVI & MKV I think but with my new install these file formats aren't recognizable.
Is this a Davinci limitation or a Win issue and if it is a Win issue are there codecs packs I can install that would allow Davinci to "see & or recognize these other file formats?

Thanks for your time :)

Scott

Have you installed the free or studio version?
You can tell by the “About DaVinci Resolve “ from the help menu.

If it doesn't have Studio in the name at the bottom left of the Resolve UI, you have installed the free version.
