That's a developer license, not a standard user license for Direct Take. Which one are you wanting?

If you'd got in contact with them directly they would have fixed it like they did for me. They gave me a link for a new beta version and it stopped the expiry message and the crashing.

Also the blog you linked to is from May 2014. If you click the link at the bottom of the page for DirectTake it takes you to a page that has a link to an updated blog where they make reference to a paid version. They've also mentioned it on here in the past.

Dear Mr. Hernandez,

I am very sorry to hear that you have experienced problems with our software company, but I feel that there is a need to clarify a couple of things:

1. As Adam Simmons pointed out correctly, you have received "Sorry, but your license has expired! You need to obtain a new license” message because you were trying to use a license that is no longer valid (from May 2014);

2. If you consult our web page you will find information that is up-to-date (blog post 11. March. 2015): http://blog.medialooks.com/4k041M/

3.Here you can download the latest version: http://www.medialooks.com/direct-take/

4. If you experience any problems, we always encourage our customers to use our Support Centre and contact our specialists directly: http://www.medialooks.com/support/

5."Decklink card_name_model” that you have mentioned should not affect your computer and if you are experiencing problems with removing a virtual object, again, please, contact our support team for assistance.

6. As it has been pointed out, the price of 5000 EUR is incorrect: http://blog.medialooks.com/4k041M/ You may also notice information about the discount policy

7. "We spent too much time with this company.” - I was able to detect only one message from your colleague. Communication was terminated by your colleague. Would you, please, send me links to the cases that you think were overlooked, so we can review them again?

8. If you would like to discuss the use of OTHER products, licensing policy and technical aspects, please, contact sales@medialooks.com. THIS forum is dedicated to discussion of the Direct Take.

9. "The app is available as a free download starting today and features our character generator as an optional plugin.” - again, that post was made in May 2014. Since then, Direct Take underwent many developments. Please, make sure you look at the recent information that is easily accessible on our web page

10. "So, no free ? only free to download then paid for use ?? why not statements ?” - as I can see, these posts were the first ones you made in this forum discussion. If you will review the messages made by our frequent readers and contributors you will notice the post from Dec. 2014 that will answer your questions.

Thank you for your feedback! I hope I was able to clear any questions. Please, do not hesitate to consult me regarding other products.

Sincerely,
Medialooks team

Free ?

how to get the free version ?

I've download and installed direct take 2.1.0.4564 , it's a good application, very usefull, but it is requiring a licence number to work: I have "This is an evaluation version ..." on screen.

This is not fair to present it as a free application.

They didn't. If you read the post properly Alex is referring to a blog post from a year ago and that things have changed since then

With the new external audio feature, are there individual audio gain controls?

Also does the program support 24 bit audio, either embedded in the SDI or from an external source?

You also showed the new LTC feature.
So could I receive microphone audio and LTC simultaneously from a MOTU 828x and video from a Decklink Duo or Decklink quad?

Sylvain,

I am very glad you find this app useful, but as Adam has pointed out correctly, please, make sure you are referring to the correct and up-to-date information:

You can control audio gain of each channel with Audio Channels controls near the preview.
24bit audio should be supported in the application for any sources.
As for LTC - yes, you should be able to make these actions.
If you have any problems - please send a description to our support system:

Thank you very much for your reply.

Where can I download a manual or at least a spec sheet, showing the supported formats in detail, i.e. what versions of ProRes and DNxHD are supported?

Also the product shows it works with Blackmagic Decklink cards and can record to DNxHD but none of the Decklink cards support DNxHD. The only BM devices that do are the Hyperdeck's.

Thank you.

Not sure what you mean. Nearly all BM capture cards bring it in uncompressed then the software on the computer decides what file format to store it as on the harddrive, so you can store it in any video file format as long as the software will make it and the computer is powerful enough to convert it on the fly. Which is why Media looks can turn it into DNxHD as it supports writing files to that format

Adam Simmons's answer is correct. Direct Take receives a frames from any possible device, it converts it and encode your signal into required format with required codecs and parameters.
A list of all possible formats and codecs you can find here: http://www.medialooks.com/mplatform/doc ... odecs.html
