Viewing 4k footage on 3g-sdi monitor with ursa mini pro 4.6k

PostWed Sep 03, 2025 7:05 pm

Hi all, I'm looking to buy an external monitor I can use with my ursa mini pro 4.6k g2. I shoot primarily in 4K DCI, but I don't need to view the footage on an external monitor in 4K, it could just be 1080p. Do I have to purchase a 12g-sdi monitor for this? Can I just use a 3g-sdi monitor? Does the ursa have the availability to somehow downscale footage when transmitting it to the external monitor? Any help would be appreciated!

I just read that it can downscale 4k video to an HD signal for viewing on a 3g sdi monitor as long as the monitor has cross conversion. This is a bit confusing because it isn't clear if that means I can view the footage on the monitor or if it means that I can connect that external monitor to a 2nd external monitor via HDMI connection... I want to be able to see the footage directly on an on-camera monitor I can take into the field.
