Hyperdeck Shuttle 2 - poorest settings

PostFri Nov 09, 2012 4:02 pm

Could s.o. give me an advice for getting the poorest settings?
Next week i have to film a long casting and the quality of the video doesn't matter.
We film that only to memorize what happened an we only have one SSD with 240GB.

Any idea how to prepare this cocktail?

The hyperdeck - even when configured at its maximum compression settings -still records at a very high quality (bit rate) of 220mbps. So on a 240gb drive you will still only be able to record about 2 hrs of video. Is that enough time for your event?

This is using either the prores or DNxHD codec that you configure using the hyperdeck setup utility that you install on your pc/Mac. When you run that and connect the hyperdeck using a USB2 cable you can then choose the codec you want.

Thanks a lot for your information.
I have to buy another SSD :-(
Its so funny - normally I would like to reach the best i can.

BTW. Have I understand you right? ProRes? I couldn't find any ProRes codec in this utility.
Is there a new firmware out there?

Yes. Prores has been out for many months. Just download the updated firmware from the support section and install it. You also have the option of using exFAT format for the drives - makes it easier for the PC world.

Sorry for my insistence, but I have already installed the "new" hyperDeck utility (from okt 3rd) and there is no ProRes functionality I could use. Could it be, that it is because I have (only) the shuttle 2?

Ahh... yes. Sorry. Hyperdeck Studio has prores. Shuttle only has uncompressed and DNxHD. DNxHD is the same level of compression as prores.
