Charging The Battery For BMPCC

PostSat Feb 27, 2016 9:44 am

I just purchased a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema camera on eBay. I have ordered a battery charger with two extra batteries but it hasn't arrived yet.
Can I charge the battery while it's in the camera by plugging the power cord to the camera?

A few additional questions on charging.

I am starting with a BMPCC 6k pro. My first Blackmagic camera. I have the battery grip and using all identical blackmagic batteries.

1. Should there be an indicator light if charging batteries using the 12v input?

I tried using a consumer USB charger overnight and this didn't work well. I am also trying with a Ravpower bank with 2.4v max output, but there is no light or sign that batteries are charging.

2. Does the camera need to be switched on to charge batteries using the provided 12v input to mains power?

3. What is the fastest way to charge the NP-570 batteries? A little research on chargers finds only 6-hours and 'overnight' described.

Many thanks,
Christine
