Encoding for playback on Hyperdeck Studio

I'd like to prepare video files for playback on the Hyperdeck Studio using Adobe Media Encoder CS6. So far, I've tested encoding Quicktimes with the DNxHD codec and trying to match my ATEM environment, but seem to be using the wrong settings, as nothing will show up on the Hyperdeck. The deck is set for the DNxHD format.

Does anyone have a list of settings for Adobe Media Encoder to encode for Hyperdeck Studio playback? I'm using the unit in an ATEM setup at 1080i5994.

Regards,
Daniel

After further testing, I've found these settings for Adobe Media Encoder CS6:

Format: Quicktime
Video Codec: Avid DNxHD Codec
Codec Settings:
Color Levels: 709
Alpha: None
Resolutions: 1080i/59.94 DNxHD 220 10-bit
Frame Rate: 29.97
Field Order: Upper First
Aspect: Square Pixels

Pre-encoded video playback is now possible with the Hyperdeck Studio. Audio does not appear to run.

Current audio settings:

Audio Codec: Uncompressed
Sample Rate: 48000 Hz
Channels: Stereo
Sample Size: 24 bit

If anyone has recommendations for getting audio to work, I'd be happy to hear them.

I think it would be essential to include this info in the Hyperdeck manual.. Saves a lot of people a lot of time... ;)

This is still not working for me. Can you tell me what other settings might be different?

Render at Maximum Depth
Depth:
Limit data rate to 10,000 kbps
Use Maximum Render Quality
Use Frame Blending

Is there a way to export your Preset and send it to me?

(Also, I am using the HyperDeck Shuttle if that makes a difference)

...Update...
After further review I find that I can copy a video (that I recorded previously with the Shuttle) back onto the SSD and it will not playback those files either. It would be really nice if I could use this as a playback device, but to do so for now, I have to record the files with the unit and leave them on there for playback.

Thanks for the info. Turns out I didn't have the HyperDeck set to DNxHD. So it is working great now.
I am using this setup for Live Streaming of our CEO to the entire company for a quarterly All Hands Meeting. I recently purchased the HyperDeck Pro. It is very handy. I have a live camera feed into the HyperDeck then to a Matrox MXO2 Mini w/Max. We do live video stream through Flash Live Media Encoder, then I have a pre-recorded video that our CEO want's to show before he starts speaking. I have that clip loaded onto the HyperDeck I just push play to play the clip, then hit the input button when theat's done and it goes back to the live feed. Everyone is very happy with this setup. Thanks again for the info.

Rick

Does anyone have an updated answer to this question. In essence I am looking for the best format to create my clips to play back on a Hyperdeck Pro. Preferably in ProRes

We have been using a totally different setup for several years with ProRes, at great success. We are running our deck at 720p, 59.94. Here are our settings:

Video
Format: Quicktime
Video Codec: Apple ProRes 422(LT) (I think anything 422 would work, we chose LT, because in our environment, you can't tell the difference)
Basic Video Settings
Quality: 90
1920x1080
Frame Rate: 59.94
Field Order: Progressive
Aspect: Square Pixels (1.0)

Audio
Audio Codec: Uncompressed
Sample Rate: 48000 Hz
Channels: Stereo
Sample Size: 24 bit

I would love if someone has used something successful h.264, since Quicktime is going away.

    Field Order: Upper First
    Aspect: Square Pixels

    Audio Codec: Uncompressed
    Sample Rate: 48000 Hz
    Channels: Stereo

Would rather have BMD make export settings for hyperdeck available in Resolve!!
Just choose the res and framerate you need. Select the codec and bitrate. And resolve outputs a Valid Legal file that is play-able on the hyperdecks!! Would be so Usefull!! :D Instead of users spending hours and hours to find the right settings to get files playing like they should. :|
