Hyperdeck Shuttle 2 SSD Question

Hello all,

I just got my hands on a Hyperdeck shuttle 2 for use recording out of an ATEM.

I will be recording 1080/59.94i, I will likely use the ProRes HQ codec. I am looking at purchasing a SanDisk Extreme II 480GB SSD on eBay and I am curious if it is compatible with the recorder? I did look at the compatible SSD list on the support page, however it shows the "SanDisk Extreme", and "SanDisk Extreme Pro" models. It does not specifially list the "SanDisk Extreme II". Am I to assume the "Extreme II" is the "Extreme" model listed on the page?

The link to the SSD I am looking at purchasing is below:

Thanks for your help!!

By looking at https://www.sandisk.com/home/ssd.html you can see that there exists no Sandisk Extreme II SSD anymore. The Extreme II is a very old and discontinued model from 2013 and definitely not supported by Blackmagic.

Sandisk has now only three classes of SSDs:

a) SSD Plus - the entry class
b) Ultra II SSD and Ultra 3D SSD which are the consumer classes; with Ultra 3D using the latest storage technology
c) Extreme Pro SSD which has always been the professional class and line of choice for recording

I would not go for cheap, do yourself a favor and just by a brand new Sandisk Extreme Pro, they are worth it.

If the Extreme II is not supported then why is it listed?

If there are three classes of SSD's from SanDisk (SSD Plus, Ultra II SSD, and Extreme Pro SSD) then why is the "Extreme" listed as compatible on the BMD SSD page?

The SanDisk Extreme II is not on the list of supported SSDs on our site.

I don't understand your comment. You already stated yourself that the "Extreme II" was not specifically listed. And the compatibility list also shows the exact product numbers for the "Extreme" and "Extreme Pro" which are different from the "Extreme II".

How you conclude from this that the "Extreme II" is listed is beyond me.

Do yourself a favor, and get a Digistore 240 (or 480) GB SSD, which were designed to work in BM cameras and the Hyoerdecks. See: http://www.digistor.com/products/2-5-ss ... IG-PVD240S

Just an update for everyone;

I received the SanDisk Extreme II SSD, and it recorded at 1080i for 2 hours on it and it worked great! No random record stops, no dropped frames, it preformed perfectly.

A side-note; I did also order a DigiStore 480 GB SSD as well for another Hyperdeck I have, and (after formatting) it is also working great! I do like not having to worry about the spacer with the DigiStore. It just fits. Awesome.

Bottom Line: the Extreme II SSD worked great!

Yes, this is one of the main advantages of the Digistore, it was designed for BM recording equipment.
Good luck with your project.
