Using Intensity under non-admin user account

Title says it all, really: my Intensity Shuttle doesn't work under my non-admin account, but it works flawlessly under the admin account. Since this computer is going to be used by students, I don't really want them having unrestricted administrator access to our computers, so giving them admin privileges is pretty much out of the question... but it'd make their jobs a lot easier if they could use HDMI instead of HDV which has a massive lag and makes operating/switching by yourself pretty difficult, which they sometimes have to do.
