Video Assist 4K. Analog audio not recording.

PostThu Mar 29, 2018 7:24 pm

I’m sure this must be operator error.

Yesterday I recorded some presentation graphics from a presentation switcher.
The format was RGB 1080p 50 over DVI and in to the VA via a DVI to HDMI cable.

The vision part recorded fine but the analog audio at line level coming in on the XLR inputs at line level neither recorded or was visible on the meters. There was definately audio on the lines and the unit was set to record ch1 and 2 via the xlr inputs at line level.

Today I fed it 1khz tone. No video input during this test, and it still wont register on the level meters.
If I plug in headphones I can hear the tone so its definately getting to the unit.

Can anyone help as this has me flummoxed and I can’t see anything in the manual that I’m missing.

Thanks
Chris

The VA needs a video, signal befor, the audio can be recorded, or successfully inputted to the monitor’s recorder. What line level were you using, +4dBu Balanced, or 10KHz unbalanced, which is a lower level signal? If it was Hz unbalanced, then this might have been the issue, as the VA expects a higher level +4dBu line level signal on the XLR inputs.
