Top mount 5" Monitor Alternatives

PostWed Jul 24, 2024 5:18 pm

Hi all,

I find the EVF tricky when shooting from the hip with my URSA G2. The 5" Video Assist 3G that I have seems a bit OTT/heavy for this application. Has anyone got any suggestions for a ~4-5" monitor that might be a suitable alternative for the G2 when working handheld. Similar to the HDVF-EL30...

Thanks,
Ben

Hi, that looks great but seems HDMI input only which the Broadcast G2 doesn't have an output for :-(

I use 2 different 5" monitors both Atomos. The older Shinobi 5" because it's an ultralight 8oz with HDMI and SDI (no 12G tho, which is a 2x bummer). Also the Ninja V with the Connect accessory, which allows wireless NDI, CTC, and 4K proxy recording (from Komodo) via SDI. NDI is much more stable and with less lag than the proprietary, subscription based, cloud solution from Atomos. There are some limitations with proxy formats while broadcasting NDI but other than that it's pretty cool. I think they're both only 1000 nits which is a little dim by today's standards.

Good Luck
