More Details on Camera 9.0 Update?

PostMon Sep 02, 2024 8:10 am

Thank you for providing the Blackmagic Camera 9.0 Update.

Where can I find more specific detail on this update?
1. Any added features?
2. Compatible cameras?
3. Lens compatibility and functionality?

I'm curious about more details as well. Pyxis will come with 6K 16:9 option at 46 fps, what about 6k FF?

Looks like this primarily added support for the URSA Cine 12K and new URSA Cine EVF.
What's new in Blackmagic Camera 9.0:
• Adds support for new Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF.
• Adds support for new Blackmagic URSA Cine EVF.

New features in Blackmagic RAW 4.2 are:
• Adds support for Blackmagic PYXIS 6K.
• Improves support for Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF.

Of course I saw that too, Tim.
Thank you

But I am / was sure that a jump from 8.7 to 9.0 would have a lot more improvements.

8.7 will never exist as a formal release. What is going to happen is that the changes that you guys are seeing in 8.7 will roll into a future release, so at this point it will be a post 9.x release once we are confident that all the issues are addressed.

Thanks for the clarification of the traffic jam having 8.6 beta, 8.7 beta, and release 9.0 for the new unreleased cameras. A 9.1 and possibly 9.2 release will get us back on track.

I would hope. I'm still on 8.5.1 cuz everything was labeled beta until now and the notes were big yawners. There are a ton of asks people have been making that would be Big News (tm) for users, but nope. And yes, is the BMCC6K gonna get 16:9? Are we ever going to see better anamorphic support? (1.5 please.) Will we see a new AI menu interface named Hal that will tell me when I try to underexpose an image, "I'm sorry, I can't allow you to do that."

So which one is GA for the BMPCC 6K, 8.6, 8.7, or 9? This is going bananas.

It’s possible the pocket cameras will not be updated until general release 9.2.
