BM APP iphone now in h265 4:2:2?

PostSat Oct 26, 2024 2:55 am

Good afternoon everyone, I have seen that black magic has updated the recording in h264/5, now you can choose up to 56mbps... (previously I don't remember how much it supported).

What I could notice is that now the recording, at least in the maximum mode of the h265, the files are in 4:2:2.

I understand that in the native iPhone APP it is only 4:2:0, while previously in the black magic application it was only 4:2:0... and now it is 4:2:2?

I use an iphone 15 pro.

End users like us can only tell you what you already know, the metadata does indicate that it's 4:2:2.

and previously it was 4:2:0? I don't remember well.

But isn't 56Mbps a little small for 4k 10-bit 422?

Yeah I’d rather have at least 150.

Could it be that BM plans to make it possible at 100Mbps?

Or it is a hardware limitation of the iPhone... we know that another application reaches 200Mbps... but blackmagic does it using a LUT.

The new 54Mbps bit rate setting is called "Max", so what would they call 100Mpbs? ;)

Does what using a LUT? That doesn't really make sense.

PRO MAX

May be 54Mbps will be called MID, and 100Mbps will be Called Max
