Pyxis 6K Power Issue

PostTue Oct 01, 2024 8:58 pm

Hello,

Just got my pyxis all up and running. However I noticed the camera does not charge the battery when on AC Power. Is that normal behavior ?

I tested several Sony BP batteries

I’d venture to guess this is normal. Mainly because it’s normal with the URSA series and either V or Gold Mount Batteries. When plugged into AC you can’t charge the on camera battery. Seems the PYXIS inherited this trait. Most cinema cameras function this way. The Pocket was a rare beast in this regard.

Congratulations on your purchase. Looking forward to hearing from you about your impressions of the camera and how you expect to be rigging it for your purposes.

I've noticed this too. Wondered if it was just me, the power cord, or something I was doing wrong. I only had the Pocket 4K and quite enjoyed not needing a Canon charger.

I will confirm this as well and when the Pyxis is plugged in, it does not charge the battery like the original Pocket 6K I have. You need an external BP-U charger.

This is correct. The BP-U battery has a similar capacity to a v-lock battery, and we don't charge those.
