Micro studio camera 4K G2 several questions...

PostThu Dec 19, 2024 8:25 pm

I want to use this on a mobile vehicle.
What are the voltage input limits?

Connector says 12V
Is this 11.99999 to 12.0000001
or is this automotive 12V IE 10V to 14.2 with occasional alternator load dump of 60V?
So what is the voltage range?
What is the current consumption?

Can you run the USB-C hub with recording to usb-c disk and the rest API running over an IP network?
What hub/network adaptor works for this?

Use a 12v to dtap.

The camera supports USB hubs. So you can hook a drive and an another accessory.

Hi,

12V - 19.5V range will be ideal.

Isn't the the 12D Dtap just a cable, IE no voltage coversion?

Which begs the question what are the allowable dtap standard voltage ranges....

As for the 19.6 max V is that max operating, does the camera have any input surge protection?

(Vehicle 12V will rarely ever see more than 14.2 or so steady state,
alas they can have transients up to 65V.)

If you are sure there are such transients, I'd add a surge protection.
Anything beyond 20 Volts can kill your camera. A car battery itself never goes over 14.4.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

Any equipment designed for automotive use by design has to survive an event called load dump...
Much more rare now than 30 years ago, but the standards exist for a reason.
See this wiki article:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Load_dump

I'll add surge protection/TVS diode. I'll limit things to <19V.
