BMC app Pixel 8 Pro: bad video quality compared to stock app

PostThu Oct 10, 2024 9:34 pm

Aloha,

compared to the video taken with the stock app (default 4k settings, stabilizer disabled) the BMC app produces a video that looks like it has a lot of compression and to be honest, the quality is not useable.

I did a test capture, timeline setting in DR is 1080 30 fps, zoom factor of the files is 2.5, the resulting file was rendered with Davinci Resolve Studio 18.6.6 Build 7 H.246 Master settings.

Now the first 12 seconds is the BMC app, the second part is stock camera app. The difference is very noticable.

I already have uninstalled and reinstalled the app. But the problem persists.
Am I missing something? Is this a problem with the pixel 8 Pro?

I'm having exactly the same issue! I was trying to shoot outside, and the same thing happened. I also tried to unistall and reset the app. I also have a Pixel 8 pro. Days ago it seemed like the app had no issues. Therefore maybe it has something to do with the recent upgrade. Have you found any solution so far?

I am experiencing similar comparisons between BMC and Pixel 7a. The latter is stable whereas BMC is showing some up/down shudder. Is there an update coming soon which will solve this issue?
Thanks Ron

Aloha,

I have posted the question in another thread as it seems that there is a single thread where they collect all the bugs/issues.

Kind regards
