BMD VIDEO ASSIST DROPPING FRAMES WITH APPROVED DRIVE

PostWed Sep 01, 2021 5:36 pm

Hi,
I've been filming interviews for a client using a Canon R6 outputting 1080 via HDMI to the BMD VA 12G 5" version. The VA is recording to a Samsung T5 1TB drive via USB-C cable. The Samsung T5 is on BMD's approved list.
In every clip longer than five minutes or so, the red warning exclamation mark starts flashing, presumably to warn of dropped frames.
I've no idea why. I've tried swapping the cables and swapping the recording media and it always starts dropping frames, every time.
Has anyone else had this issue? Although the camera settings are for 1080p at 25fps, I notice the Canon R6 outputs via HDMI at 50fps. I don't know if this is an issue.
Thanks

I have the same at the end of my clips lately, maybe it is the 4-5 minute mark too. I use a LUmix GH7, BMD VA 12G 7" and record to Samsung T7 1.7 TB drive via USB-C cable. I film at 5.7K at 24 fps and most clips are okay. Must be the duration of the recording for some reason.

In the past, it happened when I was using an SD card but mostly resolved (except for above) with the Samsung SSD T7.

Could that be an overheating issue?
