Studio Camera 4K not compatible with Canon EF mount?

PostTue Feb 11, 2025 8:58 am

Hello everyone

I just bought a Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Plus G2. The Blackmagic website says it is compatible with lenses that have the Canon EF mount, so I bought two lenses with EF mount for it:

Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM
Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS II USM

But when I tried to mount them on the camera, they were not compatible. The mount on the lense was much bigger than the one on the camera.

Do I need an adapter for it? Or is it simply not true, what the website says? Or are there different kinds of EF mount that I am not aware of?

Perhaps you're referring to a webpage describing a different model? The "Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Plus G2" has an active Micro Four Thirds type ("m43") lens mount, as described on the camera's technical specifications page:
https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/produc ... s/W-CST-13

A variety of digital lens mount adapters exist which enable EF mount lenses to be used with a m43 lens mount camera. But you may wish to research native m43 lenses for use with your camera.

In particular, the Studio Camera 6K has an EF mount, and is described on the same pages.
