BMDPCC 6K does not show in finder

PostFri Feb 14, 2025 8:50 pm

Hi all, I know this has been discussed a few times but I couldnt find a real solution yet.

Connected to the Mac (MBA M3 2024), my BMDPCC 6K does not show as a Drive in the Finder.
(The same applies to my GoPro btw.)

Both DO show up in the "Digital Images" app and I was able to run a firmware update through the Camera Setup Application without problems. Privacy settings should not be an issue (I accepted the accesory in the prompt). And the cable works obviously - so no issue here.

Anyone got a fix?

Thank you so much in advance,
Chris

Unless I'm mistaken, it is not possible to mount storage over USB-C through any of the BMPCC bodies.

First allow web management/ftp/smb using setup utility 8.6. Then connect to the camera via smb or ftp. The camera, to the best of my knowledge, will not mount as a usb storage device, rather must be mounted as a network drive. After you setup the camera over usb then go to network prefs and you should see the camera network.

To connect use Chrome and navigate to ftp.camsipaddress, use a proper ftp client, mount the network drive, etc., There are a few options to connect once it’s configured. The only hitch I’ve discovered thus far is that ftp transfer didn’t work properly with Safari but this was a firmware and an OS ago.

Good Luck

I was originally using a pair of usbc-ethernet adapters between the cam and computer then realized I didn't need to use the adapters at all. In my case a TB cable between the cam and laptop allows communication so long as the camera is selected in the network prefs. Of course a proper network configuration with a switch will require adapters.

The first question is why do you want to do that instead to connect directly the support to Mac, usb cable from ssd or a card reader?
Stressing more the usb-c port is not good thing, it’s a weak port type.
