93 Yr old Korean and Vietnam Veteran Interview Lost?

PostTue Feb 25, 2025 8:15 pm

I just returned from Hawaii where I used the Black Magic app on my iPhone 15 pro to interview this war hero. My rig was set up with a Belkin Connect USB-C™ to 4-Port USB-C Hub, Multiport Adapter Dongle with 4 USB-C 3.2 Gen2 Ports & 100W PD with Max 10Gbps High Speed Data Transfer. This unit went into the iPhone with a Samsung 1TB T7 Shield as the drive. I also had a Mini Portable charger hooked into the 100W input on the Belkin.

Everything recorded perfectly to the T7 at home. It recorded perfectly the night before the interview. At the interview, I visually validated several times that the counter was showing it was being recorded. HOWEVER, upon return back to where I was staying, I could find nothing on the drive, within the Blackmagic app files, nor my iPhone.

It's hard for me to believe that it showed that it was, in fact, recording but nothing could be found.

HELP !!!!!

How long after you stopped recording did you leave the SSD connected before you pulled the cable from the phone or disconnected the drive? If you did this without pausing, the drive or the phone software may not have had time to complete processing of the file. You need to wait awhile before the setup is disrupted.

There is a chance that only the SSD directory is affected and that forensic recovery software will rebuild the directory structure from the drive as long as you have not written anything new to the drive.

I also would not recommend use of a hub at all. Fully charge the phone before you record and plug the drive into the USB-C port on the phone. You should have enough juice to power the phone for hours from its internal battery.
