BMMSC G2 (M4K) possibility for 4K DCI in recording modes?

PostThu Mar 13, 2025 10:21 pm

A question for anyone in the know.
Does this camera have the capability to use the full width of the sensor in USB recording, 4096 pixels?

If so, will this feature be forthcoming in a firmware update?

The oversized sensor in the P4K really makes use of wide angles, if the BMMSC G2 has the same sensor I can understand why it's not included the streaming specs for this camera, but what about for using it as a filmmaker's tool?

Thanks for any replies.

Eyeballing this screenshot from @willvontagen's great video on the BMMSCG2, to answer my own post, it looks like this is a native 16:9 sensor.

But you can go even wider with a 1.33x anamorphic. That would give you a 2.37:1 aspect ratio.
