rick.lang wrote:Nice list, Tim. I think you should have a minimum of 2 CFExpress cards and I’d drop the extra dual travel charger.

If you need to fly with your kit, shouldn’t you have batteries that are no more than 100 Wh?

Cards and batteries of course apply to the Cine 12K and Cine 12K Body equally but impressive all the items in your Wishlist add up to less than the Cine 12K + EVF.

What are you going to use for a monitor? Was the Pyxis Monitor Kit in your Wishlist?

I have 4 Cards in the Wish List, and that still doesn't bring the price higher than 16K!

Well, I've flown with 150Wh Batteries before. But 100Wh doesn't do much with the UC12K. 4X 275Wh will be sufficient to get through a 12 hour day without charging. So this may not be a flying camera. Will have to figure that one out.

And, as for monitor I still have my SmallHD 702 Bright and 7" Video Assist. Maybe I'd add a newer 12G 7" Video Assist, but I'd really prefer one without on board recording. Maybe a PYXIS 7" Monitor... Hint Blackmagic! We'd love a 7" PYXIS Monitor for the UC12K.

If and when it exists, I’d also prefer a 7” Pyxis monitor. Using the BMVA12G7 is good given these ‘modern’ cameras no longer record ProRes, if a client wanted HD ProRes 422 HQ or I wanted it as a backup situation. But it’s been years since I recorded anything on it so Pyxis monitor only is fine.

I shoot with monitoring in 5” and the 7” for different purposes, framing and focus assist/waveform respectively. I also use the URSA Mini EVF at the same time to monitor false colour. Three views for three purposes as I don’t want to touch the camera and tapping anything to change settings when it’s recording. Hands on the silent pan control and the zoom/focus control only.

I still think the UMP G2 hold its own compare to the UMP 12k but just maybe the OLPF made a different, it needed OLPF to become Netflix approved while UMP G2 did not which is a testament to its IQ.

Having used Rawlite OLPF and the BMCC6K and seeing how OLPF makes good colour seperation I don't want to go back to cameraa that rely on IR cut filter its just not the same.

Hi guys, just introducing myself. I picked up the 12K LF body only and have been building it up to the full EVF kit as those parts have become available. The EVF itself is supposed to arrive today and then I will only be waiting on the B mount. I have an eight pin Lemo brick so I I'm up and running. I ended up with an extra media module and an EF mount that I might not use, but it's nice to have them. You never know :-).

Early days for me, but so far everything is working great. It's nice to have this kind of functionality all built in with only one cable for the EVF when that arrives (and my mains attachment for the time being). My Sony gear looks like a spaghetti factory in comparison :-).

Looking forward to sharing notes with you all!

Alan, welcome to the forum. Nice way to start using BMD cameras! Did you also get the standalone media dock or are you going to transfer media from the camera via the 10G Ethernet port?

Thank you, Rick! I have been running Cat6 to 10G adapter. Transfer is fast and painless. A single slot media dock would be a nice addition to the ecosystem. Mac Studio with a 10G ethernet port is also starting to look very appealing :-)

The EVF arrived yesterday and that is a beautiful piece of kit. I need to spend a little time customizing the three monitors and building some presets, but so far I'm super happy with the availability and accessibility info and settings.

Started ordering parts. I placed orders for the B-Mount Battery Mount, the Power Supply, the PL Mount, and the AngelBird CFExpress Card Reader. All are "Out of Stock" or "Special Order", and in one instance "New Item Coming Soon" through B&H. So, the intent is to let those ship when they're available, and then order the camera after I get those. Since I can't use the camera without those items need those first.

The Top Handle and Baseplate will be orders I'll do soon. And, the batteries will be ordered after I order the camera.

Media Cards will also be ordered closer to when I order the camera.

But I've begun the process.

If you don’t mind paying DHL for shipping, Proactive UK, Ltd., ProAV.co.uk has the URSA Cine 12K in stock for £5,845.00/$7,896.51 USD (ex VAT). They also have the Blackmagic URSA Cine Battery Plate B-Mount £87/$117.54, Blackmagic URSA Cine Baseplate 15 £389.17/$524.76, and the Blackmagic Power Supply - URSA Cine 24V250W £152.00/$205.35 in stock.

The Blackmagic URSA Cine Handle £168/$226.97, Blackmagic URSA Cine Mount Shims £50/$67.55, Blackmagic URSA Cine Baseplate 19 £515/$695.76, and Blackmagic Design Ursa Cine PL Mount £329/$444.47 are available with an average 3-5 day dispatch.

I tried ordering the power supply from Markertek Monday and they told me this:

“I just heard back from the manufacturer regarding the lead time for "BMD-URSACINEPS24",
and I've been informed this item has an ETA for late-March/early-April.

With Proactive UK, Ltd., I got a tracking number from DHL in less than an hour after ordering it.

Maybe the Brits are not as well heeled as we are in the USA right now.

The also have the Sonnet Solo 10G Cat No. 31720 SKU SON-SOLO10G-TB3 £330.00/$445.83.
This might allow you to transfer files from the 10G Ethernet RJ45 port to a computer with a Thunderbolt 3 port using a CAT 6 or CAT 6A copper cable through a switch or router that supports AVB.

I’m fine letting B&H get the items in stock for now. I may source the 15mm Baseplate from somewhere else. But I like having an order history one place. And, I like to use the B&H Card for purchases.

Overall, this is going to be a slow build for me. Still waiting on money from clients, and working and making new money. So, I’ll let the process work to my advantage.

I hope that you wait is not too long. Adorama says that May is the target ship date for the URSA Cine. At least they don’t charge your card until they ship, other than a buck to see if you have the funds, so you don’t have to struggle with BH’s greedy bank holding your money for days after you cancel the order.

Although this camera is not at the same price point, traditionally BH Photo puts you on a waiting list for a longer time on popular items. The BMPCC4K was shipping in September 2018, and I got my order from Adorama 5 weeks later, and Rick Lang had to wait until Spring 2019 for his order, if I remember correctly.

This seems to be a chronic issue with BH Photo. Everybody and his brother orders from them.

Anyone Still Waiting for a D800?

https://www.photo.net/forums/topic/4507 ... or-a-d800/

That 1 camera at Proactive UK is still in stock. Any takers?
They had an URSA Cine 12K Touch and Try event today in their large showroom, you'd think that they would have sold one then.

Pretty good memory!

I put a deposit down on the BMPCC4K August 4, 2018 with Annex Pro in Vancouver BC (where I bought one of the first UM4.6K, that shipped just a couple of days before NAB2016).

I know that the BMPCC4K began shipping on or just before October 1, 2018 because I had planned to shoot a wedding September 22 when the camera was expected to ship mid-September (which went to the UM4.6K by default). Annex Pro didn’t ship the camera to me until June 26, 2019 so it was another long wait.

There probably a lesson for me: since I can’t afford a new camera yet, I should order one anyway now knowing it’ll give me a year to save the money!

B&H doesn't charge the card until they are ready to ship. Now, the card will at first show the pending purchase, but as they don't truly charge the card until it ships it's just making sure there are sufficient funds there to place order.

I'm waiting on some money and I'll have the outright money to pay for UC12K without doing credit. Then the accessories will be on credit. That's how I'm doing it.

Working hard on getting the money. "Christie" the new (used) Chrysler Minivan is doing great with transportation of my gear. Was worth the money and buying first.

After the UC12K I might have to upgrade the 2020 iMac 5K to the new M4 Max Mac Studio. So many things to upgrade this year. But I bet the Mac Studio will be best for working with those 12K files from the UC12K.

Looking for a silver lining, I believe you’ll be using your current lenses. The next camera I buy will also be best with either the Tokina 25-75mm T2.9 PL or preferably the DZOfilm Tango 18-90mm T2.9 PL; the latter might have to wait another year.

A couple of early thoughts. Surprisingly, I'm finding myself using Wi-Fi for file transfer quite a bit. Even for open gate 12 K at 3:1 it is very usable in a lot of instances and means you can leave the camera set up where it is. I'm finding this really nice for checking shorter clips, tests, etc. This is just going through my standard Wi-Fi 6 router to a MacBook Pro.

I'm finding the camera super easy to use as a first time Blackmagic camera owner. I think that a lot of people have it wrong about this being a team camera only. Seems super applicable for solo operators for many applications.

My only gripe so far is that I haven't found an easy way to adjust the size of the white balance box for custom white balancing. Does that exist? If not, that would be a very nice addition.

That would be an improvement from my experience with BH Photo.

I ordered a MixPre6 II from BH Photo in a pre-order using PayPal a few years ago and was charged immediately. I had to wait several days to cancel it. I tried to pre-order a Blackmagic Design USB Cable Set for URSA Cine rt angle 1 foot 3x locking cables and BH Photo notified me:

“Availability Details
Your order will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis.

Orders billed to PayPal, other digital wallets (e.g., Apple Pay or Google Pay) or non-USA addresses will be charged immediately upon checkout.”.

Exactly what the email receipt says for the B&H Order:
We will authorize your payment method for the full advertised amount when you order this item, but you will not be charged until your item ships. Any advertised discounts or savings will still apply.
Orders billed to PayPal, other digital wallets (e.g., Apple Pay or Google Pay) or non-USA addresses will be charged immediately upon checkout.

However, these are "Special Order" items. The Pre-Order items still get up front:
Your order will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis.

I'm also not using PayPal and instead a Chase Credit Card. I generally don't use PayPal for anything.
