how to update firmware from 6.9.6 to latest firmware

PostThu Feb 27, 2025 9:08 am

Hi, I would like to ask for advice on updating the firmware of my bmpcc4k which is currently at version 6.9.6. I would like to know how to update and what the latest firmware is for my camera. I read that you need to download the camera setup program and I downloaded version number 9.2.2 from bmd support page but I'm afraid of doing some damage in the update. If so, is there a way to restore the previous firmware? Thank you very much for your attention

Camera update 9.2.1 will update your pocket camera to the latest general release. That upgrade doesn’t include any beta releases which I’d recommend you avoid.

Camera update 9.2.2 does not apply to your camera but if you use it to update your camera you may get the same results as with 9.2.1. The camera setup only updates each camera firmware to its appropriate latest version.

Hello, I updated my bmpcc4k using update software number 9.2.1(as you wrote me) and it updated my camera release to version number 8.1. Now I would like to try version 8.6 but when I download software number 9.2.2 the update doesn't work. No window appears when I click on the icon under the camera name for starting update. (As per attached photo) I tried with both a Mac and a PC and the result is the same, there is no update available, no errors, it just doesn't work. Can you explain to me why and how to fix it for download the latest beta release? Thank you

9.9.2 is not applicable to your camera. 9.2.1 contains the last general release for your camera. Releases that are later than 8.6 are beta releases which I wouldn’t want on my camera. Unless you have a spare camera so no worries if there are problems with the beta.

If you want beta firmware you have to download a beta release. Go to the support page and scroll down to or search for the 8.6 beta release and you’ll be good.
