Is the V mount battery plate from the Ursa Mini Pro compatable with the Ursa Cine 12k LF?

I'm gonna say no. Aren't the Ursa Cine plates very affordable, though?

No. I got it and the screws are not at the same place than in the ursa v plate.

Good notes all around. I'll buy the B-Mount and B-Mount Batteries when I do the camera purchased.

I bought the new (used) minivan this week. And, bought the Sachtler Aktiv 8T for the extra weight support. All first steps. So once I pay off the Sachtler, sell the Steadicam, and clear up more room on cards I'll pull the trigger on the URSA Cine 12K.

But it's looking like close to NAB time I'll buy it. After if anything. So if by chance they announce an URSA Cine Mini 12K then I'll buy that for sure. I just want something a little smaller and lighter but with a lot of the same features. I don't need that side LCD, but would love all the other features. Get rid of the ENG Style side buttons and dials as well. Haha. So cross between URSA Mini and URSA Mini Pro with the URSA Cine 12K features. That's the camera for me. Haha.

Either way, make way to buy the camera. The van is a big part of everything. More cargo room.

My body only URSA Cine camera came with 2 antennas.

The top of the Sirui VSK-3 cage has a clearance of 36mm from the top of the URSA Cine, with the center of the 15mm rod hole at 45mm. It can be adjusted so that it has a clearance of 59mm with the center of the 15mm rod hole at 68mm. The cage clearance is 32mm on both sides. Having two places to hold the rig is welcome on a camera that’s this heavy (11.1 lbs with battery).

I'm waiting for NAB. Pretty sure they can make it in a smaller body for solo operator. I would even be okay with it limit to only 60fps in all resolutions in a Pyxis body with internal NDs and keep the 12 volt power draw and price around £3.5k.

Certainly illustrates why The Body is a serious competitor!

I suppose we’ll never know the official total units sold for The Body versus the Cine 12K LF, say by NAB 2026, but it would be interesting to know the ratio of the two products sold. If The Body never existed, total units sold will undoubtedly be lower than the combined total of Cine 12K LF and The Body. There are a few interesting possibilities to conjecture for marketing since the reality is there are two options.

Only one camera:
Sales 1000 units, gross $15,000,000.

After The Body is introduced which scenario will we see?

A - no significant impact on Cine 12K
Cine 12K LF 1000 units (no change)
The Body 500 units plus accessories.

B - negative gross impact on Cine 12K
Cine 12K LF 500 units (less gross)
The Body 500 units plus accessories.

C - positive impact on total gross sales
Cine 12K 750 units
The Body 1000 units plus accessories (higher gross)

How did you get that V-Lock plate on the back of the Ursa? I cant for the live of me get the screws to go through and screw in. They appear too short and I've bought two of them now and they both have screws that barely get through the plate, let alone screw into the back.

If anyone else has any insight into getting this plate on or experience, I would greatly appreciate it.

I buy it from my blackmagic resseler (the B mount version is not available now).

Interesting. Mine sku is 13233515 -- but same box labeling and I have two from two different sources.

It would be one thing if they put the 12k sensor there, but I (me being delusional ik) am desperately hoping for the 17k in that same hypothetical form factor because I agree with Henry braham that smaller cameras for giant screens are the future. Like, aerial and plate cinematography would never be the same. Like imagine, an actually good version of the alpa platon from 7 years ago. I don't even need a lowered price for all I care, they cornered the market with the 17k pricing already.

Delusional people are faring well these days, Edith. Thinking outside the box today can become a new direction tomorrow and the new norm the day after. Lots of examples with huge impacts.

Colour me delusional, but this time I mean in a bad way, not a healthy way. No ‘true indie’ has anyway near $18,000,000 to throw at anyone voting in the Oscars. Now I’m beginning to question other ‘outsider’ wins like the recent Korean Oscar winner. Memo to self: stop drinking the kool-aid, trust your own instincts.

After 24 days, Adorama has shipped my body only Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF after being on backorder since the morning of January 31.

Angelbird has certified refurbished AV PRO CFexpress 2.0 B MK2 4TB cards from trade show use for $599.99 USD. This card can record at a sustained speed of 1300 MB/s, and is recommended for recording 12K 3:2 (Open Gate) Blackmagic RAW 8:1 up to 45 fps on the URSA Cine 12K. Since 12K 3:2 (Open Gate), 24 fps constant bitrate 3.1 requires 1200 MB/s, it could work.
I would expect it to record at higher speeds when 2 cards are used.

I am really excited about new Cine line cameras, hoping to get my hands on one any time between June - September, if available for rental ideally Cine 17k, would like to shoot a few desert red sand dune scenes in North West WA for my new Aussie Outback Neo-Noir feature film "Potato"...

Saw the camera was in stock at B&H yesterday and spoke with a sales rep on phone. Was advised to wait for the PL Mount, Battery Mount, and Power Supply to ship before I order camera body. So that’s what I’m doing.

Hopefully stock holds by time I order.

You may have to cobble it together from different vendors, which is what I did, but it will save you about 5K

For anyone not familiar, Shane is a top DP in feature and TV and runs a filmmaker academy. I did one of his course videos and found it quite valuable.

I’m signed up. And, now according to FedEx this is the day my camera will arrive. So I’ll be watching as I wait for FedEx I guess.

Sweet! Took advantage and ordered the max I was allowed at that price: 3 Batteries! Ordered the Quad Charger as well, and I'm still saving money. Especially adding in the price of the battery on CoreSWX website where I still have points for their site. So one battery and one dual travel charger is all I'll have left to do for battery and charging. I'll probably order those next week. I don't think I will even get the B Mount Plate for the camera till next week anyways based on the place I ended up ordering from.

The overall stuff from Shane's Filmmakers Academy were gold. The tests were fantastic.

Overall, makes me very excited to be getting this camera. Patiently waiting for FedEx to deliver it.

Note that FedEx didn't deliver today. Despite sending a message saying the camera would be delivered a day earlier than the initially estimated delivery date. (Eye Roll)

Never will understand why they do that update only to backtrack when they can't deliver. Just keep the original date. Then I wouldn't have been on pins and needles all day with excitement.

No, he didn’t post a motion version. Just the still. He didn’t state some tech specs on Facebook for the lens, which was a Cooke Panchro 65 75mm lens. Fog machine and lights used. This was meant to emulate that famous shot from Deakins in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.

Indeed! Batteries arrive Friday. But the B Mount Battery Plate is still back ordered. I was told it would ship Monday from the place I ordered it from. Sadly they had it listed as in stock despite not being in stock.

The 15mm Baseplate for the UCine I’ll order next month. But that also is on out of stock and back order status most places. But it seems the UMP shoulder pad will work for now.

Then I’ll order the EVF next month as well. Just have to work a few jobs first to get the money for the EVF. Then I’ll be set up.

So far loving it. Although having major trouble connecting to WiFi. It came with the Antennas. So not sure whether it’s those or something else. Gonna keep playing around till I get it.

Let us know how well the CFexpress cards perform re maximum frame rate at open gate and 8K/4K.

If I had that camera, I’d regularly shoot 9K DCI 9312x4896 with a compatible zoom like the DZOfilm Tango 18-90mm 31.5mm image circle or shoot 9K 3:2 9408x6264 with the Tokina 25-75mm image circle 36mm. So I’m curious about how you feel about the 9K resolutions which are a crop of the sensor I believe.

For my PL prime lenses all resolutions are feasible.

Well, I’m just trying to connect to my home WiFi network. That’s done through Hotwire Fission. So not sure if it’s the wireless router either that is causing a challenge. It is neither Mac nor PC related.

I got the iPhone and iPad connected via USB-C. That ended up working. Then I got the Ethernet to work by disconnecting the wireless router from the modem since I didn’t have an additional Ethernet port I could find to work.

So it’s just going to that home WiFi at moment. And, I have no other WiFi I can test. It doesn’t see the iPhone Mobile Hotspot as that’s not showing in list of available networks.

Bluetooth worked for Bluetooth+ app, however that app does need to be updated to control the internal ND. That’s a third party so will reach out to that app developer.


But at least monitor and control from iPad via USB-C worked nicely.

So I ran into this problem. The USB-C cable does seem to matter. I’m now sticking to using my Tether Pro 10’ USB-C that I would normally use for photography tethering.

Now, the other thing I found is that you may need to turn off the camera and turn it back on for the phone/tablet to ask if you want to “Trust” computer. Say yes, and then you should be connected. I did lose connection at times and just had to reset connection.

But overall I got it working with both iPad and iPhone.

I got the UC12K to fly on my Steadicam Zephyr with the Aero 30 Sled.

Since I still don’t have B Mounts Batteries (arriving Friday) and B Mount Mounting Plate (back ordered) I ran power to camera via ARRI P-Tap to 9-Pin Lemo cable from Steadicam P-Tap on Sled. This limited camera to 14V power. And, seems the camera didn’t like it for long as it shut off after 20-30 minutes.

Will test again once I can power via B Mount.

Yeah, it's likely the Steadicam that caused it. Remember there's a cable that connects the Steadicam V-Mount Plate to the bottom of the Post, and then there's an internal cable that runs up that Post while also doing output at bottom to the Monitor Power Port. Then once that cable that runs up the Post reaches the Sled I have a P-Tap that I'm running the Arri P-Tap to 9-Pin Lemo cable that goes into the 9-Pin Lemo Power Port on Camera. There's a lot of points of contact for this thing to lose the right power draw. It's not a good solution. Better to run battery on camera for sure.

I'll test the camera on the Steadicam once I have the B-Mount Plate and can use the B-Mounts on it. I expect only 4 lbs more in weight doing that. I'm at 16.5 lbs now for the camera. Thus I'll be right there at 20.5 lbs. The Steadicam Zephyr Arm is rated for 23 lbs. The Aero 30 Sled is for the 20 lbs Arm, but I bet it will be fine to balance up to that 23 lbs. Thus, I think I will be within weight limitations.

Nonetheless, I'm still going to sell the Steadicam. Didn't use it once last year on any paying jobs. No one is really asking for it on my shoots. And, in 2023 I barely had it on paid shoots. Maybe 2-3 actually had it. So it's probably the right call to part with it.

The weight of my lenses are factored. They’re about 2 lbs roughly. I’m also factoring going to 4 lbs lenses in the future and that’s when I know I start to exceed the limits of the Steadicam I have. Thus another reason to sell.

I know someone in town with an ARRI Trinity and then another with a Steadicam rated for 40 lbs. so I have options for rental and hiring ops.

And, these 8K 16x9 Frame Rates are insane! This is easily the best sensor I have ever used.

I’m demanding: Put this sensor into a dedicated stills camera now!!!

I’m over hybrids. Just give me a Full Frame Mirrorless Stills Camera with this sensor. I’ll get my Sigma glass swapped from E to L in a heartbeat. I’ll drop the Sony A7IV in a heartbeat!

This is a camera I’d walk around getting stills with. And, this cinema camera is a thing of beauty.

By the way, I’m a convert on that side screen. Love it! I’d still love the ability to rig stuff on the side there in a smaller body package. But that truly would become the B Cinema Camera. This sensor just needs to be in more bodies.

Excited to get away from wall power as soon as a B-Mount Battery Plate ships. Till I can shoot and share more footage.
