Low Volume with DJI Mic 2 into iPhone 16Pro Using Camera App

PostFri Apr 04, 2025 8:09 pm

I recently purchased the DJI Mic 2 (2 x Transmitters & 1 x Receiver combo). My primary use case is to have a light weight iPhone rig that I could use to record interviews with pilots and vendors at airshows. Unfortunately, the volume level attainable in my iPhone 16Pro is ridiculously low, even with the Transmitter Gain set to its max of +12 DB, app Gain is 85%(note that the Receiver Gain has absolutely no effect on recording volume, but I have it set to +6 DB anyway). There seems to be an acknowledgement of the low volume issue with the iPhone 15/16 Pro + DJI Mic 2 combination, but I've found no one offering a viable solution (other than suggesting that I just boost the volume level in post). The odd thing is, if I use the DJI Mic 2 with my Canon XF605 camcorder (connected via 3.5 mm TRS to TRS cable), I have to crank down the Transmitter Gain to -6 DB to avoid having a calmly speaking voice clipping.

Does anyone have a solution involving Audio settings that could be tweaked in the Blackmagic Camera App, when I'm using the DJI Mic2 into my iphone 16Pro via USB-C?
