Pyxis Monitor support for BMCC6K (Please!!!)

PostSat Apr 05, 2025 12:28 pm

The camera firmware upgrades that Blackmagic is releasing and promising to be released, sound amazing! As a bmcc6k owner I'm elated about the new autofocus features, even if they're it's still in their infancy.

Also the update for the micro studio camera 4k g2 to make it compatible with the PYXIS monitor sounds like a very nice addition (although, difficult outside a live environment, without any internal recording possibility). Since the release of the monitor, I've been wondering if it would be possible to use it with the bmcc6k and this sounds like it could be possible via firmware updates. It would be AMAZING to get this compatibility as well to make the rigging options with the camera way more flexible. All the rigs with a vmount positioned behind the atttached monitor would'nt be so cumbersome anymore. I think this would broaden the market for the PYXIS monitor for sure, especially if it would also be backwards compatible maybe even with bmpcc4k!!

Sorry, this is just not possible with the hardware that is in the Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K.

That's too bad :(. Would you be able to point to the main culprit in this? Since it's able to record 6k braw over usb c, the data side seems like it would be powerfull enough, so is it about delivering enough power?

Amazing that the micro studio g2 somehow has the capability to support this in it's tiny form factor compared to the bmcc6k.

Thanks so much for creating clarity on the subject!

The BMCC6K does not have DisplayPort capability on the USB-C output. It's not a matter of raw bandwidth.

When Micro Studio Camera G2 was designed, we added DisplayPort capability on the USB-C output.

How about a 7" version of the screen?
