MC-21 (EF-L) Compatibility with the BMCC6K

PostFri Jun 28, 2024 11:03 am

I am looking for image stabilised lenses that work with BMCC6K and there are no native L-mount lenses available - apart from the Panasonic 24-105 which has electronic interference issues.

Does anyone have experience with MC-21 (EF-L) compatibility with the BMCC6K?

There are a host of EF lenses but I have experienced compatibility issues with the Tamron 35mm 1.8 VC and thought it best to do some more research before getting another!

Cheers

I own MC-21, it works perfectly well with my Sigma and Canon. I can't help you in regard to IS.
MacBook M3 Pro 16”, 18 GPU, 36GB RAM, 1TB | Sequoia 15.0
BMCC6K | Sigma 12-24 f4 | Canon 50 f1.8 | Sigma MC-21 | DJI RS4 Pro | DJI Mini 4 Pro

Does anyone else have experience with MC-21 (EF-L) and IS lenses? Wondering if the Sigma Art OS zooms might be compatible as their first party lenses?

Yes. Works great with Sigma 24-70 2.8 EF Mount.

Fixed iris setting on Canon EF and EFS Macro lenses becomes variable when focus changes. I already logged a complaint in with BMD. Not sure if it is the Sigma MC-21 or camera is the cause because I have not tried a different adapter.

Does it work for you with the mc-21 and IS switched on? Mine doesn't focus with the focus button and aperture and IS glitches every minute or so.

I read somewhere that it's not a mount support issue but an issue with the camera not supplying enough power for all the additional functions of the lens, which correlates with the glitches you describe.

However, I contacted Blackmagic support and they told me that most if not all lens compatibility issues were addressed in the latest beta firmware 8.7. I would be interested to know if you have updated to that or not?

Also when you switch IS off and the focus button works, it almost always misses focus.

I've recently come across this thread, as I'm also experiencing these exact issues on the Pyxis L-mount. :(

Hopefully Blackmagic can address this issue, so I can reliably use the OS function again
