Blackmagic Cam app : storage is full [error]

hi using latest version of app on latest version of iOS on iphone 12 (256GB).
Started with default settings, i believe BMC stores recordings in the app itself.
After a few recordings, got an error message :
The storage is full !
The recording has been interrupted because the storage is full

Now, i still have plenty of storage left on my iphone.
So i changed the settings for saving in particular folder on my iphone, but I'm still getting the same error.
So what should i do ?

Move clips off the phone then delete clips on the phone.

The app does not have access to all the phones storage.

Thanks for the reply and that's indeed what I'm doing.
It's a bit tedious though, as i never encountered this problem with other ios camera apps.
Isn't there a way to allow for a certain threshold though, in order not to have to do this exercise too often?

Hi,

I would like to reopen this discussion. I have some bigger video gear (2x Canon R6mk2 with a few pro RF lenses) but when I travel for leisure, I like to carry a smaller setup. I started playing with the Blackmagic Cam App, and fell in love with it with the ProRes Log video quality. Invested in some phone rig (approx $500) but now I’m dealing with some issues. The recording stops after 10ish minutes, sometimes earlier with some unknown errors, not enough storage, etc…

I have 2TB m2 ssd (WD Black), external battery pack (20000mAh with fast charging) and an iPhone 16 Pro. I tried APFS, ExFat file systems, even a different ssd (Samsung T7), different battery packs, etc. I also fully reinstalled the app. Still no luck.

Has anyone figured out something? Maybe some settings, different video recording, etc?

My preferred way of recording is:
Apple ProRes 422 High bit rate 4K Apple Log HDR
Macbook M2 Max | 12 CPU 38 GPU cores | 64 GB
Mac mini M1 | 16 GB & iPad Pro 13"
DaVinci Resolve Studio + Editor Keyboard
