Pyxis 6K Mounts

PostThu May 15, 2025 11:08 pm

I am new to the video world, I have been a photographer(using nikon) for 30 years.
I am going to get the Pyxis 6k for interviews with business owners.

My question is what mount should I get and why?

EF
PL
L mount

Thank you for your help!!

Thank you

If you have a lot of Nikon F Mount Glass already then I'd say get L Mount with a Nikon F to L Mount Adapter. Overall, L Mount is probably your safest bet considering you can use Adapters for a good number of lenses.

Otherwise, it would be good to know what lenses you already have outside of Nikon lenses. In particular what lens mounts they are. And, if you intend to stick solely to that one mount and glass type? As the L Mount is still your safest bet.

However, if you say you have a lot of PL lenses and that you are mainly going to use PL then I'd say go PL.

So it entirely depends on those factors. However, based on the little information provided so far L feels like the safest suggestion.

I agree with Tim where L-mount may have benefits due to the flexibility of having a shorter flange distance on the camera. Here’s a thread that discusses the convenient use of neutral density filters (that include attenuation of infrared light):
