Software Fix for 6K Pro Cinema Camera Reset

PostWed May 21, 2025 6:13 am

I was just wondering if anyone knows if Blackmagicdesign has considered developing a software fix for doing a factory reset on the 6K Pro or other Pocket or Cinema models in their inventory?

My screen turns on but the touch feature does not work. I thought if Blackmagicdesign had a factory reset software fix that could be downloaded to the SD card like other updates, and when the camera is turned on, it defaults to the card and the factory reset software takes over and resets the camera. If the screen does not function after that, at least it's a starting point to determine the next step in getting the screen fixed or replaced.

I don't know if it's possible but if it could be done for those of us with non-functioning touchscreens, maybe the factory reset could solve the problem of a touchscreen that just stopped working for no reason other than some internal or screen failure.

Thanks

Exist a Dfu like mode to reset a camera bricked and restore like new.

Switch the power button on the camera to OFF and unplug the power adaptor
- Connect the camera to the computer using a USB-C data cable.
- Start Camera Setup software on your computer.
- Connect the power cable to the camera (DO NOT power ON).
- Press and hold the Auto focus button on the camera and switch the power switch to ON, and wait until you see the Camera Setup on the computer detecting your camera, prompting Software update available.
- Click on "Update Now" to start the firmware update again.

Good luck

Thank you. That was very helpful. Unfortunately, I've shipped my camera back for replacement of the LCD monitor in hopes that solves the problem of the touchscreen not responding to touch.

I appreciate you and your timely response.

We're all here together to help each other. I believe a better solution is possible
it's rarely a software issue.
