Loading LUTs onto VA

Apologies if this sounds like a dumb question but how do you load LUTs onto the 5 inch video assist?

According to the manual (page 19):

Importing 3D LUTs is easy!
1 Connect your Video Assist to a computer with Blackmagic Video Assist Setup installed.
2 Launch the setup software and open the settings for your Blackmagic Video Assist by
clicking on the circular settings icon.
3 In the ‘video’ tab, you will see 6 empty slots you can use to import 3D LUTs. Simply
click on the ‘import LUT’ button for an empty slot and choose a LUT .cube file from your
computer. Click ‘open’ to confirm your selection.
4 Make sure you ‘save’ your new settings by clicking the ‘save’ button on the bottom
right corner.
That’s all there is to importing a 3D LUT!

Interesting. I didn't know that was a feature for the older video assist. Does the 4K load LUTS as well?

I believe if there is a need to load a LUT, and all the six columns are filled, you can overwrite any Lut with another one.
As a matter of fact, you don't necessarily have to delete a LUT. You can just switch the feature off on the display page.

Yes Alex, a recent BM firmware update (VA 2.3) to both VAs, added LUTs, false color and some additional featurs were added to the older, 5-inch VA/HD model. The 4K/7-inch VA got false color support in a previous update. Also some additional recording codec support was added for DNxHD.

Wow thanks! I just downloaded and installed the new update. I'm going to check it out in the morning! Good night.

No, the LUTs only apply to the display, they are not sent downstream via HDMI or SDI out.
Cheers

As I mentioned in another post, it seems that the LUT is applied on the display output because it also affects the False Color rendering - for eg. if the LUT is completely black and white, the False Color will be rendered black and white. :o

I have recently purchased the VA. It is on the latest version but in the VA setup software there is no option for loading LUTs. How do I access this?

Bumping this because i have the same issue and its been incredible frustrating. I am using the Blackmagic Assist with my Panasonic S1H and cannot load a lut into it, and the option on the Assist itself remains greyed out. I'd appreciate any help!

I found current instructions in a YouTube video titled "How to import LUTS on BMPCC Cameras AND the Blackmagic Video Assist 12G | Sigma FP | Lumix s5 & s1h" by Anson & Co. (I can't paste a link to it here because of forum rules). The first steps are the same for all devices, and the video assist instructions start at 4:00.

TL;DR:
* Copy your LUTs to some storage media (SD cards or USB),
* Insert the media into your VA (it can be in the root directory, I don't think it matters where it is), and turn it on,
* Go to your settings page in your VA (top right corner icon)
* Go to the LUTs tab (far right at the top)
* Select the "transfer" icon at the bottom of the screen (arrows pointing left and right, in the middle of the bottom edge of the screen)
* Select "Import LUT" and the card you loaded it onto, then select "Import". It will scan the card and show you all the LUTs you can select to import.
* Import, and celebrate.

Hey guys! I'm having some issues trying to import the LUTs. However I click into the "import LUT" button it doesn't do anything... Does anyone have the same issue? BTW, does the BM Video Assist 5'' 3g-SDI accept 33 point cube luts, or only 17?
