Blackmagic Camera App for Android: multi cam problem

PostSun Jun 15, 2025 9:00 am

When I record performances like concerts or an interview, I use multiple “cameras”, in my case Android smartphones. In Davinci Resolve, I can easily edit multicam recordings. I am therefore very happy with the new Blackmagic Camera App, which also allows you to connect “cameras” while recording and start, control and monitor them remotely.
Unfortunately, I do not yet manage to pair more than one camera with the “controller”. The Blackmagic Camera App for Android in my case only sees one of the other cameras on the same network.

I am using 2 Samsung S21 phones and a Redmi Pad Pro which are all on the same WiFi network. All three have the latest version of Android 15. The Blackmagic Camera App for Android is version 2.2.1.0014. 2 Cameras (S21) are set as Remote Camera with a Remote Password and they are available as “Control and Monitor”. All camera's are connected to my Blackmagic Cloud account. The 3rd 'camera' (the Redmi Pad) is set as Controller. In the Controller camera, if I click on the icon in the top left corner of the screen, I see the camera itself as Controller and randomly one of the other cameras as Remote Camera. If I switch off one of the cameras, the other one is seen. I can remotely control and monitor the remote camera connected, but not more than one at a time.

I can also make one of the S21 the controller and the Redmi a normal camera, the same result.

I have seen a video on the internet where this does seem to be possible (
).
I am therefore diligently looking for help in this and am also looking for a “manual” for the Blackmagic Camera App (for Android), although I have already figured out most of it myself.

Thanks for your response.

Screenshot from the Redmi with the two S21. Only one of the two is seen. Sometimes #1, sometimes #2. In the popup where you can chosse the camera's only one is shown besides the camera itself.
